Bass

The heat is coming, and a few days of 30C+ highs have slowed the bite a little. With wildly fluctuating temperatures, bass could be found deeper in the morning (~6ft-10ft of water.) Most of the bass found in the morning were in milfoil weed flats in about 8 feet of water. Taking advantage of the flat calm water was key to silently move between weed pockets with the trolling motor on low. The jig bite was very hot today with almost not hang time from cast to bite. The black and blue Strike King Bitsy Bug in 3/16 oz, paired with a Bass Pro Shops Bull Hog in the Red Shad color was the greatest producer. Approximately 15 decent sized largies came on this combo today. The hero of the day, however, was the Live Target Hollow Body Frog Popper in 517 Black/Black. After a quick drive from the lake into the Otonabee River, the popping frog was thrown against the banks of the river anywhere there were lily pads. I managed to land a decent 4.6lbs largemouth on the topwater, which is always a great way to catch bass.
